For years my husband has suffered from dandruff, and it has been a struggle trying one product after another. We finally took a break from using anything special, we are working on gut health to address what we believe to be the root cause and decided to try a scalp oil to help soothe the skin and boost confidence.

I reached out to my cousin who has become an Oily Genius and she helped me come up with a recipe. I am going to give you the original recipe she gave me and the adjusted recipe that we have settled on for us.

Original Suggested Recipe

15ml bottle with dropper

  • 2 drops Rosemary
  • 2 drops Cedarwood
  • 4 drops Lemon
  • 4 drops Peppermint
  • 4 drops Tea Trea
  • 4 drops Lavender
  • 2 Drops Geranium
  • 2 drops Patchouli
  • Top with carrier oil of choice.

Our Recipe

3oz bottle with dropper

  • 12 drops Rosemary
  • 12 drops Cedarwood
  • 24 drops Lemon
  • 24 drops Peppermint
  • 24 drops Tea Trea
  • 24 drops Lavender
  • 6 drops Patchouli (we did 12 before and I am not a fan of the smell of Patchouli, if you don’t mind the smell use 12 drops here)
  • Top with Almond Oil

He uses a small amount on his scalp every morning and loves this scalp oil. We hope that you love this oil as much as he does.

With anything you start using and that includes therapeutic grade essential oils I want to remind you as a disclaimer we are not medical professionals, and we are not saying that this will heal or cure anything. We are just sharing our favorite homemade products that have worked for our family. As always please consult your healthcare professional and make sure anything new you want to try will work for you. We use Doterra oils which you can order here.
